Apprentice Data Scientist
The Company
Actalia Sensoriel is the sensory evaluation department of ACTALIA (Agri-food Technical Institute) and is one of the leading specialists in sensory evaluation and consumer testing in France. The team consists of around 40 people across three sites: Caen, Maisons-Alfort, and Bourg-en-Bresse.
We support our clients in measuring and understanding the consumer/user experience through tailored and diverse methodological approaches. In this context, we collect large volumes of both quantitative and qualitative data.
Actalia Sensoriel is also driven by a strong R&D dynamic aimed at evolving our methods and tools, enabling us to offer innovative and unique services to our clients. Recent developments focus on digitalization and the integration of artificial intelligence tools into consumer behavior analysis. This also involves leveraging new types of data such as videos, audio recordings, etc.
Your Missions With Us
The proposed missions are part of this innovation-driven context in data analysis and valorization. The goal is to develop protocols adapted to these new data types, support the team in analyzing and presenting data through deliverables for clients, and contribute to the development of computer vision models alongside our AI engineer.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop automated processes and user interfaces for data analysis and reporting for consumer and sensory studies
- Contribute to the development of our gesture classification model (data enrichment, training the model on new scenarios, etc.)
Additional Responsibilities
- Study data from multimodal approaches (image, voice, etc.) generated through AI modules
- Propose and develop analysis protocols and identify models based on these data
Work Environment
You will work within the Actalia Sensoriel project team under the supervision of our Head of AI & Data Analysis Projects.

Profile Required
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) specializing in Data Science
- Training in project management and interest in consumer research
- Strong command of data science techniques and associated development skills (Python and R; knowledge of libraries such as scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib)
- Skills in modeling and managing relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent): schema design, SQL querying, optimization
- Awareness of data architecture concepts is a plus: ETL pipelines, data warehouses, orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills, rigor, proactivity, curiosity, good communication and interpersonal skills, team spirit
- Strong commitment and ability to work both independently and within a team
